Mismatch of resumes to job postings in relation to job mix

This nearly 30% mismatch statistic just goes to show that often employers
and job seekers are often on different pages and speak different
terminology when it comes to trying to match a resume to a job posting.

It goes without saying that employers often receive resumes and
applications from job seekers that list job titles that may not align with
the titles of actual available positions. Obviously that doesnt mean those
applicants are without the skills or that they wouldn’t be a good fit.

In this dynamic and ever-changing job envirnoment, the likelihood of some
on-the-job training being needed is quite high. This is especially true with
higher education institutions struggling to keep up with innovation and
the neverending progress of technology. Therefore, it is important that
institutions continue to offer certificate programs in specialized areas and
align with the needs of employers to help bridge the gap.

                                                                                                        January 2019 31
