Median years of tenure with current employer for employed wage
and salary workers 2008-2018
Overall, just under half of working adults are interested in changing careers. Half of those who do change
move to a different industry. And at least two-thirds change to a completely different job function.
Currently Gen Z is leading the pack in career movement, with most of them being 30% more apt to
change careers. One-fifth of Gen Zers have had 4 jobs (or more) during the short period they have been
in the workforce.
This goes to show that Gen Z workers are aligning their careers not on financial success, ladder climbing
or career longevity like Baby Boomers did, but on fulfilling their life’s dreams and passions and creating a
career path that is personally satisfying for them. Therefore, your audience is constantly changing.
