2018 UPCEA Annual Conference Recap

Key Conference Takeaways

Our team had a great time last week attending the 2018 UPCEA Annual Conference. We mixed and mingled with a large group of schools that want to make sure they are able to take advantage of every opportunity the current marketplace has to offer. Bonus – we were able to roll out our new name in person, accompanied by exciting new marketing materials and Thruline branded Wonder Woman cuffs (excuse us…we mean slap koozies).

Key themes of the conference included:

  • Alternative credentials – make sure you are offering what students are looking for.
  • Innovate, Innovate, Innovate. Innovation is possible, even with limited resources.
  • Understanding the adult market and how to best serve those students from recruitment to retention.

We had the pleasure of attending keynote speaker, Dr. Simone Ahuja’s session on Jugaad Innovation. The speech focused on how to drive breakthrough innovation with increasingly limited resources, a widespread challenge we are seeing in the current education space. Dr. Ahuja is a well published author and founder of Blood Orange.

The happy hour we hosted on Thursday was a lot of fun and the Thruline team had great conversations around the release of our 2018 Higher Education Benchmarks report and how to use that information to better serve the adult student. Be sure to join us this Thursday, March 29th as Chief Marketing Officer, Tracy Kreikemeier and Director of Marketing Analytics, Katie Tomlinson host our annual webinar to guide you through the report and provide valuable insight on how to leverage the information for your institution. Register for the webinar HERE.

That’s all for now but we are hitting the road again soon and hope to see you next time!
